How to Use Temporal Thermometers
Here’s a trick for getting the best results with your scanner at home: Just remember "Touch". Anytime you are touching your child’s skin with the scanner, you should be touching your scanner’s button. Here's how it works.
Remove the protective cap and place the thermometer head flat against your child’s forehead.
Once the thermometer is touching the skin, press the button and keep it depressed as you glide your Exergen scanner across the forehead at the hairline. Do not to go down the side of the face or the technology can’t work.
While still holding the button down, use the scanner to touch the soft spot behind the ear. Then let go of the button and read the temperature.
Keep it clean
A dirty scanner can alter the accuracy of your readings, so it is important you clean it regularly. Use a Q-tip dipped in alcohol directly on the lens every 2-3 weeks. Do not use paper towels or tissues. Wait 5 minutes before using the scanner so it can recover from the coldness of the alcohol.
